Greetings one and all .just when we thought 2021 was calming down since its a new year , here comes international messaging sevice app whatsapp with its new year mandated privacy policy changes. where whatsapp is forcing its users to give them permission to use their private information to share with facebook or you cannot use whatsapp anymore . In other words if you do not sign to agree to allow whatsapp to use your private information your acount will be deleted .
For those that do not know about whatsapp it is international messaging app where you can text ,call and video call your family and friends internationally .it is a very popular app for international community to keep in touch with their loved ones .
Recently whatsapp has been sending its users an updated privacy policy which is effective February 8th 2021 but in recent days due to the uproar of whatsapp angry users leaving whatsapp and going to rival app signal whatsapp has delayed the privacy update to may 15th 2021.
Why are whatsapp users upset ok let me tell you why .under the new updated whatsapp privacy policy you are agreeing to let whatsapp share your private information with its parent company facebook and other facebook associates.
Whatsapp is part of facebook family of companies which means they share information with each to help operate ,provide,improve their services and offerings to us the public .users must agree to share their information or delete their watsapp account .
What information is being shared you ask ? Information such as personal information such as your name ,address ,telephone numbers ,pictures ,messages ,your address book .and this privacy policy is why people are leaving whatsapp .they want to be in control of their information .this is the reason why whatsapp users are upset their privacy is being taken away .
But their is a twist in this story .elon musk saw that whatsapp users are angry so what did elon musk do ? Elon musk saw how anry whatsapp users became so elon musk sent out a tweet immediately for whatsapp users to join a new encrypted messaging service app SIGNAL ,yes peeps elon musk tweet lead whatsapp users straight to signal ,a rival to whatsapp .
So many people wanted to join signal that the app had a delay in sending out verification codes ,yes peeps signal app crashed due to the over load of users wanting to join . And as we all know elon musk was one of whatsapp original founders who now hates facebook so elon musk has directed whatsapp users to signal messaging app .omg talk about drama right my peeps . Signal app does the same things like whatsapp it is an encrypted messaging app that does not share your data to facebook as elon musk hates facebook .your data and information will be safe .
In light of signal and whatsapp seeing its users leave in haste watsapp to join signal whatsapp as postponed its february 8th 2021 new privacy policy changes to may 15,2020 to give its users time to get the correct information about their new privacy policy .let us watch and see how and if whatsapp will survive this in the next few months peeps .
